So, I am not sure how many of you pay attention to the exciting election in Massachusetts. The election to replace Ted Kennedy. So in the end Brown won and this is a republican candiate. Kennedy served for quite a while in the senate, and now a republican being elected?
What do you think of this. Do you support Brown?
Yes. I've heard a few of his answers to questions and I was impressed with his comment about it being the people's seat and not the seat of Ted Kennedy or the Democrats.
I also think the Republicans are tougher on terrorists than Obama, who took 4 days to respond to Christmas Day's terrorist attack and a matter of hours to respond to the Haiti Earthquake.
I on the other hand am very disappointed in this news. The primary reason being that it now means that the health care bill is in serious jeopardy once again. That is already an issue that has dragged on far longer than it should have done and yet now, the republicans have gotten just what they want to drag it out and water it down even further. Still, so long as the wealthy can afford decent health care, who gives a damn about a few poor people.
God bless America.
Dan.
I agree with Dan. I was surprised that a Republican got Ted Kennedy's seat. Changes in government and new laws take long enough, but Ted Kennedy had been trying to improve the healthcare system for many years, and unfortunately he died just when it looked like things were moving in a positive direction. I'm disappointed that things may slow back down to a crawl now or even go the other way.
No seat in the US belongs to any politician. They are the seats of the people. The people decide who they want to sit in those seats. No politician has a right to be in the Senate or the House of Representatives. They have permission from the people.
There are poor people in Massachusetts. Usually there are more poor people than rich people, so perhaps not all poor people agree with Obama's healthcare policy?
As far as I know, the Democrats' campaign in Massachusetts didn't focus on thousands of people dying in the state because they couldn't afford healthcare. If private healthcare is such a problem, why wasn't that their main strategy?
I know that the news is full of dying people in Haiti, but if millions of people are dying in America because of private healthcare, surely the left-wing media should be full of stories about it, even if the right wing don't want to know.
Is this just a myth?
I'm very disappointed too...and I shutter to think what could happen. it's a very scary thought!!!
